I'm back! Although, technically I was never gone!?

You ever get that "oh crap, why do they let me out of the house feelin'?", I has that now, apparently I was the only one who was having the problem viewing my blog as it should be, so after clearing my cookies all is well.

But seriously - I get paid to work with computers - how did I not figure that out on my own???  Any way, it's back, so I'm happy.  It's been a crazy busy few week, what with work, Vinnie's and uni (I've got an assignment due Monday - procrastination anyone :D ), trying to organise things for Christmas and the biggest thing - trying to find a new house.  I'm moving, hopefully in the next couple of weeks, so it'll be bye bye family and hello Me, Myself and Sam!

The rest of the household is off to live out in the boonies in their new , already set up, Dan can now have horses house, which she is very excited about.  I think Holly & Rustyn are as well, there will be lots of animals to play with, so the kids are very excited.  I'm looking forward to living on my own, which at 32 years of age - I've never done!  It'll be a new adventure, I just wish I'd been good and saved my pennies so I could just buy a house now rather then renting.  But hindsight is a wonderful thing and it definitely won't help me none at this point in time.

So this Christmas I'll be moving a lot of crap, and by a lot I mean how in the hell can one person have so much stuff?  I swear, I'm one box away from an episode of Horders.  It's scary.  Crazy scary, I was sitting on my bed last night and got avalanched by boxes. 

Once I'm done moving (and after my school work of course), I'll be reading some Maya Banks I've been saving  and the latest Jill Shalvis  - I can't wait.  I also have a heap of DVD's that I've got recently, I'm still on my Tom Hardy bender, add to that mix, a healthy dose of Michael Fassbender, some Transporter and a large dash of period hotboys and my Christmas viewing is going to be toasty warm.  Time to get the magic bullet, limes and the vodka out, mama needs a cocktail!  But before all that where in Hell did I pack it???

When life gets in the way...

I can't believe it is now July, over halfway through the year.  I remember, when  I was younger it seemed like it took ages for the year to come to a close - granted my events for marking the year were birthdays, Easter and Christmas.  But now, it seems like the years pass quicker, blink and you miss it!  Something I'm not entirely happy with.

I've been absent for the last couple of months, pretty much everywhere - okay not everywhere, I'm still chained to my desk at work, (not literally, that would be bad OH&S), but I've been busy with that, with uni, my Mum's been unwell and my cat, the lovely Sloppy Jones, has gone missing and by missing I think she's gone to that big catnip filled field in the sky.  She had been sick, with something that the vet couldn't identify, thus couldn't treat.  Which was frustrating to no end.  But I sure do miss her little quacking sneezing, which heralded her entry into a room.  She was an awesome cat.

I've now kinda depressed myself.  So quick - subject change - what else have I been doing - reading the first six books in the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh.  Which I am loving so far.  Great writing, I love the world building, the characters, the smexy times, where the author is taking the series, I've got four books until I'm up to date.  I love the whole damn angsty, sweaty, sexy world.  I'm a bit behind the ball on reading this series, it's been around for awhile and I was always going to read them, just later.  But I met Nalini at ARRC2011 and thought she's awesome, I'm going to read her books.  Now.  And I'm so glad I did.

Apart from that, not a lot has been going down, just life in general, which always gets in the way of all the stuff I want to do.  Hopefully I can juggle work, uni and the blog, I'm behind on reviews I need to do at the moment,  too bad life isn't an episode of I Dream of Jeanie - it would make it all so much easier!

This will be the third book in this series I've read, I haven't read them in order - but it hasn't detracted from my understanding of the background or love of the series. I'm fairly new to the world of Christine Feehan but so far what I've read I'm loving.

Whatever you've got planned for the weekend, hope you guys have fun. There are advanced screenings of I Am Number Four tomorrow night, so I'll be toddling off to the cinema for that, then it'll be onto less fun things - uni starts up again in a weeks time, so I'm trying to organise myself for that. The end of my BA is quite close and while I can't wait to finish, I need a little motivation at the same time. This trimesters subject is Marketing of Libraries and Information Agencies. Which is good, as it's a subject that I'm interested in and will tie in nicely with the subject I've just completed (Social Networking for Information Professionals), but sometimes I can't help but dwell on all the lovely books I'll miss out on reading.

Well the shiny has officially worn off of uni. Now I'm all just hurry up and finish the semester already. Not that I'm not enjoying my subjects, I just shouldn't have chosen two. The good thing is that there's not a management text in sight! Joy :)
Apart from that I've been lazy, I need to post a gazillion book reviews, I've already read some great stuff this year, and happily only a couple of crap books. I've discoveredthe wonderful world of Kindle, with an iPhone app. It's great to be able to go anywhere and know that I've got a half dozen books to choose from. So much easier that carrying a bag full of books. But I gotta say, I still prefer having an actual book in my hands :) But what do you expect - I'm surrounded by books everyday.

It's been a busy couple of months, Sloppy nearly lost her other eye, (instead she got an eye lift!), which was way better than the alternative. I don't know what I'd do without my bundle of purr. So now she actually looks like her eye is open, which is kinda funny after 8 years of squinty face.

And because after all that stress, I'm giving myself some holidays! It's off to Europe again, this time with the family. This time I'll be spending more time in London, I'll also get to visit Ireland and the Oxygen Festival with Jake. I'm also looking forward to a week in Paris and where ever else my fancy feet feel like taking me. Looking forward to it.

Hippy New Year (March is the new January!)

It's been awhile folks, how was the end of '09 for you? It's been that long I can hardly remember! Christmas was good, rather quiet, I stayed in Mildura, as the boys were over from the UK and it was Holly's Christening. Apart from that and eating WAY to much crap, not much happened - good Christmas all in all. New Year was celebrated with copious amounts of bubbles, a heart attack (Rustyn was introduced to sparklers - NEVER AGAIN!! Or at least until he is old and I can't see him playing with them), Scary!! He of course thought it was hilarious to chase everyone around with said sparkler.

But now I'm off to Office Works, gotta buy stuff for Uni, looking forward to this semester, I'm doing electives Children's Services and Marketing so it'll make a nice change to more Management subjects.

TGIF!

Well it's that time again gentle reader...the weekend. Happily I can report I don't have to work, although I've got some painting to do. I'll be head down bum up trying to finish all my fun books cause I start uni again in a weeks time, should be interesting. We are working in groups this semester - beyond that I don't know much...I kinda haven't read anything else lol.

Tomorrow is of course is Valentine's Day, or as I myself (being bitter, twisted & single), call it Library Lover's Day. Here's a little funny that a friend sent me today. Made me laugh!!

I'll be looking after Shortstack tomorrow night so Dani & Paul can have a night out, so it'll be pizza and DVD's, perhaps something with a hot boy perhaps? There will definitely be C grade action - that is a given. Perhaps I'll even crack my book club book, reading 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult this month. Too bad were not doing Plain Truth cause that's what I'm listening to at the moment - didn't really think that one through.

No doubt it will be a weekend full of fun, frivolity and highjinks! Just like every weekend. Oh yeah, party central at my house. Or we could just have a nice cup of tea and do some knitting...whatever you prefer :). Spinster style - I've got the cat's, (one more and it'll just get weird), twin set & pearls and my hair is kinda always in a bun.

Okay, gotta stop cause I'm just talking crazy, much the same as one of my emails to Asha!

Happy Halloween

I thought I'd quickly post something since I've finally finished all my uni stuff for the semester, 'cept now I've gone and done it!! I've signed up for a summer class as well as my usual subjects for next year, I'm figure that way, I'll only have my 2 electives, professional placements & my non library majors to do. Yay!! Still think I'm a dickhead for doing it tho...but hey, I never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed, lol.

Not much has been happenin' lately, I've just experienced tonsilitis in all it's glass swallowing, throat shredding, OMG I'm going to DIE glory!! (Yes, I can be like a man when I'm sick). Definately don't want to do that again, it wasn't any fun at all :( Even better it came just when I was doing my final essays for uni, let me tell ya, delerium doesn't really help when you're trying to write an essay.


Anyway, this weekend, I've looking after Rustyn, taking him to the Farmers Market & swimming so it should be fun, I don't have a picture of my poppie on here yet, so here's Rustyn Dean, the apple of my eye :) Very cute!! He's learnt throw a ball now, so that's also what I'll be doing.

If I'm lucky, I might get to watch the end of the 2nd season of Big Love, which I'm finding soooo funny. I'm enjoying this season even more, hopefully the next season won't take too long to get here. For those who don't know what Big Love is, here's a quick run down:

Big Love centres around a polygamist Bill Paxton (Bill), and his relationship with the three wives, played by Jeanne Tripplehorn (Barb), Chloe Sevigny (Nikki) and Ginnifer Goodwin (Margie). Each wife has a house, which they live in with their kids, 8 in total, with Bill taking turns to visit them. Along the way there's run ins with the polygamists at the Juniper Creek compound and they all struggle to hide their secret life. I've really enjoyed the show, it's funny and really well written. I think it deals with the polygamy issue well. Obviously the compound is how most people view polygamy, but Bill and his family life in the 'burbs, so their life and situation is a bit different, but I suppose the values are still the same. The two eldest kids are great, both struggle with their life and the beliefs of their parents, not something that they both necessarily believe in I guess. Anyway I likes it. Anyway, I've prattled on for long enough, it's nearly 9pm and I've still gotta go do my other job, so not looking forward to it, but if I do it tonight, I have the rest of the weekend to myself, just have to keep telling myself that :) and then I have to hunt out my work books for the subject I'm doing over summer, that way I can see just what it is exactly what I've gotten myself into. Hmmm...more likely I'll get home, be too tired and end up either watching crappy tv or starting Breaking Dawn, which I've been oh so good and not started unitl I finished my essays. But what I should do is find work books, find work books, (trying to hypnotise myself or something), So enthused, so ENTHUSED!! You can feel it can't you, yeah baby, I'll give you something to feel...hehehe...yeah, nothing like a little bit of gratuitious half naked hot boy to start the week end off and he is very pretty, I'd even make a half assed attempt to be interested in football if he asked me too. I'm such a sucker for a hot boy...anyway enjoy the hotness, enjoy your weekend, have a Happy Halloween, hope y'all get lots of booty and not crappy dental hygene products, cause seriously, what's that shit all about?

It's back to the book learnin'

Well 1st day of spring session started today, so it's back to the grind stone. Looking foward to my subjects, the IT one is all about Web 2.0, so it should be good and my other subject is a children's fiction, at least I don't have 20 books to read for this semester. There were only 2 books I didn't like and 1 I didn't finish, so not to bad old chap, I say!!

King Solomon's Mines, I didn't finish - I couldn't even listen to it, bit to stodgy for me and boring snoring with some of the detail. I don't need in depth descriptions of guns and ammo thanks pet - if I did I buy gun lovah's magazine! I didn't like Catcher in the Rye either. I found the character of Holden annoying, aggrivating and not in the least bit funny. Maybe if I'd read it when I was being all 'I'm a rebellious teenager, hear me roar', now it just serves to piss me off and remind me that there's a slice of my life I'll never get back :( grrrr...

My fist assignment for the IT subject is a blog so that should be nice and easy, now that I'm all one with the Learning 2.o knowledge - let's hope so. I'll be able to try out a few of my tricks I've learnt and perhaps copy n paste some applications, I'm all about the easy when it comes to assignments.
