Books Alive do the five

It's that time again - books alive time! I've decided, in honour of this I'll review as many of the '50 books you can't put down' as I can. I don't know how many I'll get done, so far I've only read four of the fiddy - and there's one I refuse to read - stupid, stupid series. I'd rather eat the whole thing soon as read it, scratch that - I don't want to soil my pristineness with thee unclean thing. Die Harry Die!!! I can't help it, it's irrational, but I don't care, I refuse to read any of the books/see the movie and that's that, mmmmkay. Okay now that I have that little rant over with it's time to go, there's hot boys afoot and I need to watch 'em!! Certainly help me calm down some, already I feel better, just thinking about their lushness.

Ain't nothing but a LibraryThang

Finally, I have LibraryThing on mah blog! Talk about long time five dolla. Then I couldn't remember my login and had to rejoin and put my books on again. Then, OF COURSE, I find my old login, talk about annoying. But at least it's up and running and I'm slowly adding more to it. At the moment I'm looking like some sexy book fiend, who occasionally likes to read children's novels and eat food prepared by Jamie Oliver. Hmmmm...actually... :)

Anyway I'm tired, it's late and time to go home, enjoy the rest of your day, night morning, wherever yee shall be.

Stray by Rachel Vincent

Okay peeps, the very long awaited, above said review is about to begin...drum roll please...and scene...

Here's the blurb to set to mood:

OKAY, SO CATS DON'T ALWAYS LAND ON THEIR FEET
I know that better than most. Since rejoining the Pride, I've made big decisions and even bigger mistakes: the kind paid for with innocent lives. As the first and only female enforcer, I have plenty to prove o my father, the Pride, and myself. And with murdered toms turning up in our territory, I'm working harder than ever, though I always find the energy for a little after-hours recreation with Marc, my partner both on and off duty.

But not all my mistakes are behind me. We're beginning to suspect that the dead are connected with a rash of missing human women, and that they can all be laid at my feet--two or four, take your pick. And one horrible indiscretion may yet cost me more than I can bear....

I'm giving Vincent's debut novel 3.5 stars. While I did enjoy Stray, there were certain aspects of the novel that annoyed me. I thought it was too long (624 pgs) and while this is irrational, (I'm allowed), her overuse of the word 'syncopated', made me crankier than words that I try not to use on here can describe! I would read the word then BAM! Hello, there goes Gloria Estefan in my head, with her 'turn the beat around' song in my head. Faythe (the heroine), as a character was not always likeable - her 'poor little me' rant, did chafe a little towards the end. But she's feisty and I like that, I'm looking forward to seeing how she matures in Rogue. I particulary like the scene were she lures one of the kidnappers into the cell. The interaction with her and Marc (her jilted ex-fiancé), made me giggle which is all good, but they were also annoying sometimes, he was mooning over her, she's being all bitchy. Just have at it already!! - Sorry, my other sexy books are brushing off on me :) On that topic - the jiggy sections aren't all that jiggy with it, so if you like that sort of thing you're not going to find that here, but that's okay, we all like a little vanilla every now and then :) Sides, we have Lora Leigh and her Feline Breeds for that ;)

Overall, I think it was a good first novel, I know it has gotten mixed review, but it's obviously got a lot fans also. After Rogue, comes Pride (available early 2009), and I think that there will be 6 books in the series. So it will be great to see how the story and characters develop - I'm certainly looking forward to and am we speak still waiting ever so patiently for my copy of Rogue to arrive.

It's back to the book learnin'

Well 1st day of spring session started today, so it's back to the grind stone. Looking foward to my subjects, the IT one is all about Web 2.0, so it should be good and my other subject is a children's fiction, at least I don't have 20 books to read for this semester. There were only 2 books I didn't like and 1 I didn't finish, so not to bad old chap, I say!!

King Solomon's Mines, I didn't finish - I couldn't even listen to it, bit to stodgy for me and boring snoring with some of the detail. I don't need in depth descriptions of guns and ammo thanks pet - if I did I buy gun lovah's magazine! I didn't like Catcher in the Rye either. I found the character of Holden annoying, aggrivating and not in the least bit funny. Maybe if I'd read it when I was being all 'I'm a rebellious teenager, hear me roar', now it just serves to piss me off and remind me that there's a slice of my life I'll never get back :( grrrr...

My fist assignment for the IT subject is a blog so that should be nice and easy, now that I'm all one with the Learning 2.o knowledge - let's hope so. I'll be able to try out a few of my tricks I've learnt and perhaps copy n paste some applications, I'm all about the easy when it comes to assignments.

Well I'm off to create a new blog, cya bye :)

Well I suck

And how's that review working out I hear ya asking...well it's a work in process matey, a work in progress. I'm getting slacker and slacker, I'll have to devise a reward system where each time I post something I get a cookie or freddo or somat like that! What a splendid idea.

Not much has been happening, I've been all rather low key the last couple of months, working and then working some more. I can't wait until October when it's off to sunny Cairns for moi. I want to go now >:( - and no, trying to use the force didn't work. Baahumbug.

I don't reall have much else to write, so I'll post this and then, of course, I'll do another post tomorrow because I want a cookie. If I don't y'all get to smack me one!
